  • The sun was just breaking out when I was gazing at this waterfall... a page out of fairyland, I found it lying around Shasta Springs, California.

  • Mount Rainier National Forest, on the trail up to Ranger Falls and Greenlake. This place is a Temperate Rain Forest, and it is the kind of Old Growth Forest that is talked about so much.

  • Don't adjust your monitor! The lake here is named 'Greenlake', and it really is a deep emerald green! The low brush across the lake grew over an avalanche scar in the forest, and is spectacular when fall colors come out! On the northwest corner of Mount Rainier National Park, two miles above the Carbon River by trail.

  • If you go to the NW Corner of Mount Rainier, past the Carbon River Ranger Station, about a mile and a half, hike up the trail for almost two miles, then you get to Green Lake. This otherwise inaccessible lake really is... GREEN! For years I had taken my photos to be processed by the 'professional' labs and had my trees turned blue in order to make the water look right.

This is the right color. It's worth the hike.

  • This is one of those views that just flashes in the corner of my eye as I'm driving around Kent, Washington. This time I had the luxury of time, and could pull over to capture the view. The springtime grass was the color I imagine Ireland to be, and the sky was nearly cloudless and just perfectly clear of haze. What would you pay to have this view of Mount Rainier out of your front door? The land behind me was for sale...

  • Up at Crater Lake in Oregon, there is a famous island called "Wizard's Island. This is not it. This is a much smaller, much less known island called the 'Phantom Ship'. Next time I'm going to be taking a lot more photos... this trip... well it's a long story; essentially we couldn't stick around for nearly long enough.

And yeah... it's that blue. Amazing.

  • The sky color in the original was mostly a blue gray, and I'll be the first to tell you I changed the color there... but I swear there was this great big Heart floating in the sky!

  • From the blackest clouds below the the whitest pillows above I just loved this guy... and if rain counts for love, he returned the favor about ten minutes after he posed for this portrait.

  • Someday, somebody with a proper academic portfolio (and a lot of patience) is going to explain to me why my eyes find this SUCH an attractive, calming sight... but of all my images, for whatever reason, this IS one of my absolute favorites...

  • Just another beautiful sunset from Mount Shasta, California; that's Black Butte on the right.

  • The final rays of the Sun illumining a 'Castle' at Sunset over Beacon Hill in Seattle, Washington. It's not really a Castle... it used to be the old Mariner's Hospital, now it's the Corporate HQ for a DotCom. Still, if it had a moat...

  • Did you ever see the movie "The Gods Must Be Crazy"? There was a memorable scene near the end where there was a view of a cloud layer from above. This particular morning the freezing cold fog was just below me at sunrise, making for one of my most memorable views of Mount Rainier I've ever seen.

  • It's tough to see the flock of birds crossing in front of this Sunrise over Maple Valley in Renton, Washington... but they were certainly announcing the Sunrise loudly enough to be noticed at the time!

  • A vertical version of the Gondola at sunset... this one had no riders; what a waste!

  • I just liked the shape and texture of these clouds, they just looked attractive for some reason. Then, when I got home, I saw the faint shape of a white colored winged cloud blowing a vaporous trumpet. I wonder what the event was....

  • This image really appeals to me; both the irony of the dangerous mechanical creation blunted by basic forces of Nature and the color/texture of the frozen wire against the warm tones of the wooden building. Taken near SeaTac airport in Washington State.

  • I have this set of Lilac bushes in the back yard; the blooms are immense.. Each little flower is about a half inch across, but the 'pompom' is about a foot long, or more! Looking at them against a deep blue sky.... sigh. I should make this one available in a 6" square; it wolud make a stunning tile...

  • And here's the blatant commercial shot. See? I can do these too. Me and about 6000 other photographers. Ah well... It's not like I was able to resist the call either.

  • My notes say this is a Lily... could be. I like photographing the bearded lilies just fine. I'm entranced by how the petals can actually sparkle in the Sun. But this guy wanted to have his picture taken with the Sun rising over his bloom. Hey, works for me.

  • Another Golden Peace Rose. Is it just me, or was he watching me as closely as I was looking at him? Huh... nosey rose.

  • This Rose is called "Betty Boop", and won the Rose Competition at the Western Washington State Fair in 2003... I'd love to have a whole bush of these!

  • "I'm ready for my close-up, Mr. DeMille!" I love this rose, although I feel a certain unease in doing such a close-up; I almost feel like I'm invading it's privacy or something. Also, I can't decide if it's a horizontal image, or a vertical one. If you buy this print, feel free to hang it either way! :D

  • This is one of those images... I had it on my computer as a 'Desktop Image" and everytime I turned on my monitor, I could see this rose appearing like a sun. I should figure out a way to make these available as Desktop Images; but in the meantime, you can turn off your monitor right now, and then turn it back on to see the effect for yourself. NOTE: this will only work on a CRT, not on a LCD screen... sorry!

  • One flower on a stalk which by nature has a dozen. Well, if he wants a solo, he gets one! This is probably the truest to the color of blue I see with my eyes for this variety, it's so deep that it usually overwhelms the cameras ability to record it.

  • It's a shame these only grow in mostly wet, shady areas... on the other hand it means that the backdrop will almost always be this luminous green color!

  • This bud had lowered two petals, exposing the perfect from within. If he was going to go through all that trouble for me, I'd be pretty silly to not do a portrait of him!

  • Water from Shasta Springs, California... originally used as the water in Shasta Soda Pop! No kidding. Here it's just rushing down through the forest, keeping the ferns and mosses happy.
